BP names Meg ONeill as new chief executive as incumbent steps down

The oil and gas companys chair says increased rigour and diligence required to maximise value for shareholders BP announced on Wednesday that it would appoint Meg ONeill as its chief executive officer from 1 April next year, after an abrupt exit by Murray Auchincloss.ONeill will become BPs first chief executive appointed from outside the company, and the first woman to head any of the worlds top five oil companies.
